Adventure, suspense and deception abound in this novel based on historical fiction. Set in the 1600's, this engaging plot commandeers the reader through a pirate's quest for a secret map and leaves him/her with rich treasures of crucial vocabulary and enhanced language skills.

The low unique word count and high frequency factor (the number of times core structures are embedded in the text) in this reader, make this an ideal read for beginning Spanish students. Each page is loaded with cognates (words that are similar in English and Spanish), recycled vocabulary, and illustrations, which makes this read highly comprehensible. Enjoy the story!

  • setting: Cuba and the Caribean sea

"One of the longest lasting novels in our store, this book almost makes you forget the cultural and historical info it contains, because of its humorous semi-romantic twists and scenes full of slapstick humor."

Erg leuk boekje, ook omdat ik het verhaal al ken in het Nederlands, dit maakte dat ik nog meer spaanse woorden begreep en maar weinig naar het woordenboek hoefde te grijpen.
