When Alicia, a girl who lives in Liberia (Costa Rica), finds out she and her family are moving to Paris in a month, she is far from happy. Her friend suggests she makes a list of the most important things she wants to accomplish before she leaves. Alice writes four items on her list and sets off on a quest to discover what truly matters to her.

The main character is Costa Rican, but one of her best friends and boyfriend are from Nicaragua. Thus, Alicia naturally experiences some aspects of the Nicaraguan culture. She also notices the discriminatory attitude of some people towards her friends. Alicia visits several special places in Liberia. You will find some cultural information about these places at the end of the book.
