This is the audio book of the novel Olivia y los monos, read by the author, Verónica Moscoso.
The story takes place in Misahuallí, a small village in the Amazone region of Ecuador. The village is situated at about 500 kilometres to the southeast of the capital Quito and is well-known for the group of capuchin monkeys that form part of its inhabitants. Many tourists visit the village and play with and are sometimes robbed by these monkeys. This story is about these monkeys, told from the point of view of Olivia, a 16 year old Californian girl.
The word 'mono', which means monkey, will be ingrained in your memory after listening to this audio book.
Verónica Moscoso, who is from Ecuador herself, has made a short film Meet the Monkeys, which can be seen on youtube and which will give you a good idea of what the story is about. The CI Bookshop can also provide you with the novel itself. Reading and listening at the same time will give your language learning a boost and is very enjoyable, so why don't you give it a try!
