In the year 1772, France’s King Louis XV commissions Parisian jewelers, Bassange and Boehmer, to create a diamond necklace for his queen. However, by the time the necklace is finished, the king has died. The jewelers, strapped for cash, are struggling to find a buyer. In 1778, Cardinal de Rohan is trying desperately to win back the favor of the queen, Marie Antoinette. His friend convinces him to buy the necklace as a present for the queen. The jewelers think their problem is finally solved… until they find themselves at the center of a scandal that will change the course of history.
